How To Participate

We invite all Greater Boston musicians, presenters, and venues to be part of Jazz Week '13: Jazz Is in the House!, a 10-day community-based celebration of the music in and around the city from April 26 to May 5, planned collaboratively, produced independently, and marketed jointly.

Jazz Week aims to spread the word about the vibrant jazz scene that exists in Boston, shine a spotlight on our many talented resident musicians, and raise Boston's profile as one of the world's great jazz cities. Most of all, it aims to get more people out to hear live music. Now approaching the seventh consecutive year since it was revived by JazzBoston in 2007, it is in every way the product of a collaborative effort by representatives of Greater Boston's entire jazz community.

Be part of the promotion

Musicians and presenters are warmly encouraged to participate, assuming responsibility for the production of individual events, including all financial aspects, under the umbrella of Jazz Week. All events are marketed, at no charge to you, through an overall promotional campaign using print, broadcast, and electronic media, including press releases, flyers, posters, print ads, radio and TV announcements and interviews, websites, social networks, and blogs. In addition, all events are posted on a special Jazz Week events schedule on this website.

To participate in Jazz Week, we invite musicians to book club or concert dates and to explore the possibility of interdisciplinary and cross-cultural collaborations that draw in the broader arts community. We invite presenters — club owners and managers as well as concert and other arts presenters — to book jazz into your performance space during this week. Then submit your information to the JazzBoston website so that we can include it in the Jazz Week '13 Schedule of Events on this site.

Submit your event Info

Last year we automated the Jazz Week Schedule of Events and made it self-service, so the submission process is now the same as  for the year-round JazzBoston events calendar. Besides getting your events posted faster, this change gives you more control over your information because you can go back into the system and make any corrections or updates yourself.

You can also submit new events right up to and during Jazz Week itself. All events submitted will appear in the Jazz Week '13 Schedule of Events on this site.

If you're already registered as a musican on the JazzBoston site, simply click on Musicians Login on the right side of our homepage, and when you get to the Musicians Community page, log in as usual, then submit your Jazz Week event as you would a non-Jazz Week event.

If you aren't yet registered, you will need to set up your account first, which you can also do from the Musicians Community page. Then follow the prompts to submit your event. (Once you register, you will also have the option of creating your profile, which will then appear in the Musicians Directory.)

As always, to get the most visibility, we encourage you to submit an image with your event details. And just as with the year-round Events Calendar, you can also upload an MP3 or a link to a YouTube clip.

The submission process is fairly simple, but if you have any questions, write to jazzweek@jazzboston.org and a member of our webteam will respond promptly. Please make sure the subject line says, "Jazz Week submission."

Help get the word out!

JazzBoston asks participating artists and presenters to join us in this collaborative effort on behalf of the Greater Boston jazz community by promoting all your shows from April 26 to May 5 as Jazz Week events, and by helping to publicize the entire Jazz Week Schedule of Events — on your website and Facebook page, in your flyers and e-blasts, and with displays of Jazz Week materials in your performance space.  We have a Jazz Week '13 icon for you to use whenever possible in identifying these events. Click here to download high- and low-resolution images of the icon.

You can also help get the word out by including a link to the complete Jazz Week '13 Schedule of Events in all your Jazz Week-related communications.
